Artist Adebanji Alade on taking on the legacy of the The Royal Institute of Oil Painters
The iconic art institution, The Royal Institute of Oil Painters, has a new president.
Artist Adebanji Alade is the first ever black president since its inception in 1882 and he is looking to continue the institute’s legacy whilst making sure it thrives in a new and ever changing world.
His appointment coincides with its annual Exhibition at the Mall Galleries which has a focus on urban life as well as an area showcasing young talented oil painters.
James went to spend some time with Adebanji and try to understand more about the artistic medium.
