New play tackles issues of knife-crime, classism and racism in state education.

Set in a secondary school in London, a new play exploring knife crime and school exclusion has come to the stage.

‘DISMISSED’ is on at the Soho Theatre now and will run until Saturday the 3rd of June.

The play centres on two teachers who are faced with trying to deal with a student who brings in a knife, both with different views on how to handle it.

‘Dismissed’ is the work of writer Daniel Rusteau who shines a light on classism and racism through his writing.

He spoke to Sara Firth about the play and how he’s hoping it will start some vital conversations.
