GB Deaflympics chief calls for lottery funding
As the dust is well and truly settled on the Paris games, the Deaflympics is preparing to celebrate it’s 100th anniversary in November 2025.
Unlike Team GB athletes, deaf participants are not funded by the National Lottery.
Lottery money has been lauded as the main reason for Britain’s huge successes on the medal table in recent years but being deaf does not qualify, meaning athletes with this disability often have to hold down other jobs to fund themselves to compete.
UK Deaf Sport chief executive Chris Ratcliff joined James to talk about how a change in this at a national level could massively boost our chances in Tokyo next year.
